November Pawpaw

The leaves were gathered in the early November, just before they fell, and show the revages of weather and insects. Pawpaws, the northern most representative of a tropical family of trees, grow wild in Lancaster County, usually near streams, and bear large edible fruits evocative of bananas and custard.

The center image is a cyanotype on silk, the panel on the right is a piece of vintage embroidery, and it also includes silk, hemp, wool, and corduroy fabrics and hand beading.
